I’m getting a kanji tattoo on the back of my neck, pain?

I’m getting a kanji tattoo on the back of my neck and I just wanted to know how much it hurts compared to other things? It’s rest in peace grandfather in three symbols. I feel I can handle a lot of pain cause I play rugby and have some pretty bad injuries, but of course I’m nervous in case its a different type of pain. And what should I do while I’m getting it to distract me? Eat candy? Ipod?
