Tattoo Ink Poisoning

tattoo ink poisoning
Is there any chance of getting ink poisoning from tattooing yourself with indian ink?

I would be surprised if there wasn’t, but i am intrigued…Also, I know tattoo parlours use those pens that stick a needle in and out of your skin, but would it work if you cut the design into your skin rather than stabbing it in? Or would it just scab over and disappear? I’m not seriously considering doing it, I’m just interested.

Well, the possibility is there. I accidentally ‘tattooed’ myself by tearing my skin while struggling to get the bottle top off. The thing is that professional tattoo equipment and inks are (or should be) produced to medical hygiene standards and are sterile. If you cut deep enough, the ink would stay, possibly for ever, but wouldn’t be neat enough to look like a precise design. Many native cultures do exactly what you suggest with various materials, but aren’t looking for fine art results like Western or Japanese stuff.
