How long do tattoos take to heal?
I’m considering getting a tattoo this summer in June, when I turn 18. However, I’m wondering about the healing process. Basically, how long do tattoos take to heal (mine would probably be 3 in. by 3 in. at biggest)? Do color tattoos take longer to heal than black ones? And since it’s summer can I swim and stuff with my healing tattoo (obviously not the next day but a couple days after?)

It takes a tattoo about 3 weeks to heal completely. It’s fair to say it should be treated like an open wound for the first 2 weeks of this time. That means no swimming, soaking in the bath, or doing anything where the transfer of germs is possible.
The after care is paramount in assuring a good, long-lasting tattoo, be it colour or black and grey.
