4. To Express Commitment. We live in the disposable age where it seems everything is temporary and to be thrown away. As a result we are being conditioned to a state of a short term and transitory nature. Getting a tattoo is an expression of commitment to yourself that is forever. This action puts into practice the common wisdom which says that making an irreversible decision is good for the soul!
5. Paying Homage. Sometimes a tattoo is chosen after the death of a relative, celebrity or favorite pet. Usually these tattoos are portraits commissioned by a very talented artist who can copy from a photograph of a loved one or reproduce likenesses of such personages as Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, John F. Kennedy or Malcolm X.
