how should i care for my new tattoo, i think i got bad instructions from my artist?
i was told to put vaseline once a day for 4 days and no scrubbing sunbathing or swimming, and he didn’t give me a bandage, today its the second day, is there something else i should be doing?
you should wash your tattoo once to twice daily (for example, in the shower) with a mild, non-scented soap. press-pat dry with a clean towel after. i use green soap (available online) diluted with water, which is actually the same soap the artist uses while tattooing you. try to keep it clean and aired when possible. after 3-4 more days, start to use a hypoallergenic, non-scented lotion (like baby lotion or aveeno) 2-3 times daily.
no sunbathing, swimming, or beaches for two weeks. nothing petroleum-based such as vaseline or a&d ointment.
