Tattoo Care Instructions Swimming

Tattoo After Care? What should i do after the first week? Please help?

So i have a new tattoo. i got it 5 days ago and have been following my tattoo artists instructions exactly. my tats healing very well looks good but im not sure on a few things. my first question is about the sun…

i kno sun is bad for a tattoo and i wont be going tanning or laying out on the beach but when can it see a little sun (like walking to the market) with sunblock on? ive been covering it with loose fitting clothing whenever i go outside. when can i stop doing this?

my second question is… How long should i wait before swimming in the ocean? Ive heard a few days, 2 weeks, and 3 months. So i have no idea how long to wait.

You should keep it out of the sun for about a month, until it’s totally healed up and able to take an application of sunscreen. It’s not good for a new tattoo to have sunscreen applied to it, it’s not good for the new and broken skin.

You should wait about 2-3 weeks before swimming in the ocean, your skin is generally healed enough to take being submerged in water.

Of course, you should check this over with your tattoo artist, they can provide you with definitive answers.
