Why do you have to wait a whole year before donating blood after getting a tattoo?
I went to donate blood last month and they said “no” because I got a tattoo in June. Wouldn’t I know by now if there was something wrong with my blood?
I’m amazed at the ignorance shown in some of these answers, if you had asked them at the donor centre they would have told you that it’s nothing at all to do with the ink but the piercings.
The same rule applies for all body piercings including earrings, belly buttons, tattoos and dental treatment and it’s a precaution against infection by HIV and Hepatitis B.
So don’t worry, there’s nothing wrong with your blood, as you say you would know by now.
