what is the best aftercare tattoo ointment?
my tattoo shop recommended “Merry hempsters Tattoo balm” But other websites recommend a general A and D ointment. Also, they say to use a unscented liquid soap. What would the scent have to do with healing properly?
A&D is the most popular aftercare ointment (at least to the best of my knowledge) because it’s a diaper rash cream. If you can use it on a babies bum, it’s most certainly gentle enough for an open wound, aka a tattoo.
Every artist had preferences for what they use in the healing process though.
As for scent, even with anti bacterial soap, it’s best to avoid scent. It will BURN… very badly. The burning might do something to the ink as well, I’m not 100% on that… but you never know.
