If you’ve been looking for tattoo places online you’ve probably shouted at your computer screen, demanding an immediate answer to the question, “where’s all the COOL ink at”?
Around 10 minutes into my search for free online tattoo places I became just as frustrated. All these generic, lame, sites with tattoos that seemed comparable to those temporary stick on tats found in gumball machines.
It’s kind of pathetic that so much simple, bland, and ugly designs are out there. I mean, NO ONE is going to get inked with these designs!

After sifting through lame butterflies, simple (and probably not even accurate) tribal designs, generic rose tattoos, and sad looking (yet trying to be scary) dragon tattoos, I was ready to just go to the local parlor and look on the wall for a few hours.
Eventually I came across one of these “tattoo gallery” sites where you have to join up. Basically you have to pay a fee and become a member. It was relatively cheap and seemed “maybe” worth it.
Here is what you will find inside these tattoo galleries:
- You can basically select whichever style you are after. For example if tribal is your thing, then you hit the tribal selection. There will be different and varied categories, everything from butterflies to celtic and much more.
- Size. Another selection is size. Big, small, medium, whichever size you are after you can select the option.
- Bookmarking and other features. There are a ton of different features you can use, like bookmarking all of your top picks so you can come back to them later and narrow down your decision.
- ENORMOUS amount of ink! The selection is huge and you definitely feel like you are not missing out on any cool design, because they all seem to be here.
- Finally, you will actually find some good work inside these galleries. There are high quality designs, and not the cheap, generic stuff you find online elsewhere.
So here is the pro’s and con’s of tattoo galleries:
- You have to pay to get in. If you’ve looked online for good, high quality, printable designs, then this won’t be a big deal. You will probably gladly pay for access to good tattoo artwork. Nevertheless this is one of the CON’S since it means you have to spend money.
- The convenience is a huge PRO. It’s actually fun browsing around the different categories and seeing all the latest designs out there. It’s easy to narrow down your search and only look for the styles you are interested in.
- Time. This can be both a PRO and a CON. While a gallery can narrow down your search and help you find some cool ink quickly, it also can occupy a LOT of your time if you really are into looking at the different tattoo art. I found myself bookmarking ink that I was not originally looking for. But it’s also a good time killer. You can log into the site at work and make your day go by a lot quicker!
