I just got my home from getting my first tattoo. How should I care for it?
I got my first tattoo on my back with color in it. How do I take care of it? Should i wait a little while to remove the bandage or can I take it off now?
Just a side note: Yes I was given care instrustions but they are very vauge and I am getting conflicting answers on how to care for my tattoo. Thanks for the advise everbody!
Listen, you do not leave the bandage on past the initial 2 hours, because you will harbor bacteria. You do not bandage or put saran or cling wrap on it, you leave it uncovered as much as possible, or wear loose clothing.
You keep it clean – antibacterial soap
pat dry with clean paper towels
air dry a bit
apply a light coating of Lubriderm unscented or Curel (if you do use an ointment, switch to lotion after 3 days.
pat off any seepage/ink transfer with clean paper towels
Do the above 3 – 5 Xs a day until it heals (2 – 4 wks or more, when it feels like regular skin and does not hurt to bump it)

Do the most current aftercare methods, do not use Vaseline, no petroleum products, no Neosporin, no bandages or cling wrap, no scratching or picking at it, no soaking, no direct streams of water, no sun, no sunblock (until it is healed, then sunblock for life).
