Henna Tattoo Designs for Arms

Henna, and temporary tattoos…anyone have any suggestions for me?
So, I want to give myself a henna tattoo. I found some henna ink at a local Indian store (it comes in a small gold “tube” that you squirt out of a cut-off end). So my first question –
Anyone know how to correctly use this stuff?
Secondly, I’m a bit scared to just freehand something, so I was thinking of getting some inkjet temporary tattoo paper, designing some stuff in Illustrator, putting it on my arm, and then tracing over it with henna. I’m a bit worried that the temporary tattoo ink won’t let the henna through properly (so I’m considering trying some hairline outlines)…but I’m really not sure. Has anyone out there tried this same setup….or are there other ways of doing it that you might want to suggest?
I’ve only had it done on me by others. They free-handed it but were professionals. Where on your arm do you want it? Because it is going to have to sit there for at least a couple of hours and if it’s a place that gets a lot of movement the henna will crack and crinkle and the end result will not be as good.
Also, it is really hard to get a dark colored henna tattoo… so
unless your expectations aren’t more than just for an orangish design I’d say skip the whole process.
