What is the safest way to paint a dog?

OK, before you yell at me, I paint myself. I die my hair, put on makeup, nailpolish, tattoos, etc. I want to do smething similar to my dog.

What dyes could be used to color a dog’s fur? Hair dye for humans? Food coloring? I was thinking of using Henna or grape juice.

What about nail polish. I know there is the risk she will chew it, so are their any non-toxic nailpolishes for children I could use?

What about doing the same to a rat?

lol wow i have owned animals all my life and i allways thought the show poodles all looked rediculus but you know wut, IT IS COMMON!!! And yes they will whiten the dogs coats with allsorts a stuff! AND THE DOGS DONT CARE!!!! Yes it is true that dog do not suffer from vanity like we humans do but that is the main reason we can do anything to them in terms of looks and they really DO NOT CARE! sometimes they actually like it. I had a huskey/akita mix as a child and every spring we would take sissors to her coat and give her a hair cut, she looked like a freak yes but the she nor the other dogs seemed to care and she never once got heat stroke with her hair cut! So if you want to spiff your dog up, I would suggest food colouring, and believe it or not but many dog groomers actually paint nails so they would prob be able to suggest a dog nail polish or a non-toxic one. I do beleive henna would also work although you may have to get a neck cone on them till it sets. I would not suggest grape juice or the like as they contain so much sugar it would probably attrack bugs and possible bacteria as well. It would also make the dogs coat hopelessly tangled and sticky.

Hope this helps :)
PS remember never to use anything that you could not use on an infant (1-3) as everything else is made with the assumption that the user would not be licking it off their bodies and chewing on themselve and the sort :)
