tattoo apprenticeship!?
I’m looking for a tattoo Apprenticeship around birmingham and worcester area, west midlands.
I’m 18 and i have just got my first full kit, i have tattoo’d myself and quite well.
maybe theres a site where people post whether there is an opening or maybe a guy will come along and say hey come work for me i dunno.
Any ideas, i have been to like 10 shops and got all NO’s.
I guessed there might not be a website, but its worth the ask, and going to shops is a hard thing to do, you have to find them then travel and then get denied and then travel back, its a major discouragement
A portfolio ofcourse not, i have just entered the light of this art, just recently got my kit, i have nothing to make a portfolio out of yet but obviously i have my arm.
I have heard of tattoo apprentices tattooing on fruits like oranges and grapefruits to get their portfolios going. Then, once you have a sizeable portfolio, go back into shops and ask for an apprenticeship. Keep asking. You may get 100 NO’s, but eventually a yes will come along, especially with a big and nice portfolio.
