full back tattoo pain
How much does it really hurt?

I am getting my first tattoo done April 7th. It is a full back tattoo, around 30 hours to complete. At the Tattoo Parlor the guy that is tattooing me said that my skin looked like it would tattoo very easily. As I have told people about it they have told me that I will cry and probably pass out. Not all of the people that told me this have tattoos. I have a fairly high pain tolerance, I don’t mean to ‘brag’ but I do.

My question is will I really be forced to tears and pass out?
I don’t know if body type matters or not here but I am:

6’2”
150lbs

Fairly thin with low body fat, I ran cross country in high school and still run every day.

Well, it does hurt but is tolerable. I can’t imagine crying or passing out because of it! Just don’t drink the night before, eat a good meal an hour or two before hand and get a good nights rest (hard to do sometimes – the anticipation can get to you!).

You may want to consider starting with something a little smaller for your first, just to test the water so to speak. Once you start, you can’t really back out, unless you don’t mind having a half finished tat for the rest of your life!

Also, men have a higher chance of passing out as our pain threshold is generally lower, body fat tends to be lower and the natural pain killers (endorphins) tend to have a greater effect on men than women. But, everyone is different.
