Ear Tattoos
Getting your first tattoo can be both scary and exciting at the same time. It’s such a big leap to go from having no body art to getting even your first small tattoo. For the rest of your life, you’ll be so much more conscious of that area of your body, as you rightly should be! Tattoos aren’t all fun and games. There are responsibilities that come with getting any form of body art as well.
The first thing to remember when getting your tattoo is probably the one thing that you’ve heard harped about from people since you were born. TATTOOS ARE PERMANENT! While there are a few solutions for tattoo removal nowadays, they are often costly, imperfect, and sometimes even more painful than getting the tattoo itself. Make sure you are 100% committed to having this piece of art on your body forever. It’s most wise to never get the name of a significant other, or anyone for that matter, tattooed onto your body simply because you can never be sure what the future holds for the two of you. Pick something that has some meaning to you, whether it be symbolically, or a literal phrase. This tattoo will be a representation of you for anyone who sees it.
Next, remember it’s probably most wise to start off with something small. If you’re not good with needles, chances are, you’ll want the tattoo to take as little time as possible. In this case, the smaller the better. Even if you are good with needles, it’s a good idea to start off with something small to help you decide whether getting a bigger tattoo is a good idea for you or not. If you’d like to get a large tattoo like an arm sleeve, it might be wise to get one piece of the sleeve first. Something that could stand on its own, with or without the rest of the design around it.
The location of your tattoo is also of vital importance. Where you place the tattoo on your body is crucial to whether the tattoo will maintain its appearance or if it will fade, expand, or stretch to look terrible. For girls, it’s often a bad idea to get a tattoo on the stomach area. A tattoo of a Jesus fish, for example might end up looking more like a whale during pregnancy. Whether or not the tattoo will return to normal after that depends on the person.
Also, it’s best to try to avoid areas of the body that shed skin cells quickly. Tattoos on the hands or toward the sole of the foot, for example, rarely hold on the first application, and often multiple touch-ups are required throughout your life that could add a continuing cost to maintaining the tattoo itself. Lastly, although employers are becoming more lax about tattoo visibility, it’s important to keep in mind that some companies won’t hire anyone with visible or vulgar tattoos.
While I highly encourage anyone who is ready for it to try their hand at body art, it can be scary and these tips must be kept in mind.
