2 questions that are driving me nuts !?
The movie was terrific , but my first question is . What happened between the time that Will Smith’s Character founded the cure for cancer and the viral outbreak in NY. what went wrong. Question #2 – what was the connection between his daughter imitating the butterfly , the tattoo on the ladys neck of a butterfly and Will Smith’s Chracter comming to the realization of the cure for the infected people of the viral infection. Someone Please Answer my questions
1. This is what the fictional virus was all about, supposedly:
In I Am Legend, the virus was called the Krippin Virus (KV)–
A genetically re-engineered “Measles” virus originally created as a “miracle cure” for cancer, but mutated into a lethal, highly-pathogenic strain. KV has a 90% mortality rate; less than 1% of humans are immune. Infected humans who did not die began exhibiting early symptoms of rabies and degenerated into an animal-like state driven by hunger and rage. Pupils became permanently dilated and skin became hypersensitive to UV-radiation, forcing infected hosts into a nocturnal life cycle. Loss of body hair, red eyes, and fangs are other symptoms. Non-humans (such as rats and dogs) are also susceptible to KV. Like the rabies virus, KV lives in the saliva (spit), brain, and spinal cord tissue and is spread when the creature bites or scratches. The virus can also be spread if saliva or nerve tissue touches broken skin or a mucous membrane in the mouth, nose, or eye.
2. Butterflies generally symbolize transformation or evolution from one primitive form to another of beauty and/or it means freedom or a new beginning. Dr.Neville realized that a cure could be manufactured from his blood’s antibodies so that the human race could be saved, started anew, given a second life like that of a butterfly.
