Beginners Tattooing
Is my tattoo needle supposed to rattle around when not touching the skin?
I got my tattoo equipment, yes i am a beginner, and i noticed when it is on and not touching anything the needle rattles around a little bit, then i put it to a surface and it is a bit smoother, is this normal? I can take a video of it if anyone needs to know what I am talking about
That’s exactly why you put a low tension rubber band around the top of the needle bar, and attach it to the back of the frame. And why you use an armature grommet on the tip of the armature bar, where it fits through the loop of the needle bar. (A small piece of folded paper towel about an inch square will work, if you’re out of grommets.) The needle bar must be cushioned, to work at all. If both these items are snug in place, I can’t see what would be left to rattle. Check the tension on the rubber band, and replace the grommet. It might be worn through, due to vibration.
